Abstract

The halal industry in Indonesia has significant potential due to its majority Muslim population. However, in practice, this industry still faces various challenges from both sharia and state perspectives. This study aims to analyze the problems of the halal industry in Indonesia by examining compliance with sharia principles and government regulations. The method used is a qualitative approach through literature study of various relevant sources. The results show that the main issues include the lack of understanding among business actors regarding halal standards, limitations in the halal certification process, and overlapping regulations among related institutions. From a sharia perspective, there are still practices that are not fully compliant with halal principles, while from the state perspective, stronger policies and more effective supervision are needed. Therefore, synergy between the government, certification bodies, and industry players is essential to optimize the development of the halal industry in Indonesia.
