The Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) is a government policy aimed at improving community nutrition quality, especially for students, as part of efforts to support the development of Indonesia’s human resources. In its implementation, the program is not only related to health and nutritional fulfillment, but also closely connected to the assurance of halal food products. This study aims to analyze the problems of the MBG program from the perspective of the halal industry, identify challenges in implementing halal standards within the program, and examine the integration of national food policies with the development of the halal industry in Indonesia. This research employs a library research method. The data were analyzed using a qualitative descriptive approach. The findings indicate that the main problems in implementing the MBG program include the uneven distribution of halal certification among food suppliers, the limited readiness of the national halal industry to meet large-scale program demands, and weak supervision and transparency within the food distribution chain. Furthermore, this study finds that the MBG program has significant potential to strengthen the national halal industry ecosystem if integrated with a halal supply chain system and the empowerment of halal-based micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
